At first I was aiming to have some "artsy" photos using Photoshop and custom filters. As an example:

This was the raw photo.
This used a special watercolor filter not provided in Photoshop.

I both liked and disliked the result.

When I built my "forever home" in 2014 we were living in a nature wonderland overrun by wild turkey and deer along with a few foxes. I became so familiar with the turkies that I started taking turkey portraits.

You might wonder how I managed these shots. I used a 300mm lens on my 35mm digital camera.

Upper left - not sure what the little guy was because he/she was a juvenile.

Upper right - In my studio I had windows on all three sides. I had desks on two sides. I setup my camera on a tripod and used a shutter release. One morning I woke up and she was just sitting there asleep. It was as if she was waiting for me!

Lower left - Rose breasted grosbeak. He showed up the for a couple of weeks each spring.

Lower right - "Young one horn" ranged the area. During the freezing cold, water would be locked (frozen) with no thaw for many days. When this was taken, he was drinking out of the heated bird bath. If you look carefully, you can see water dripping from his chin.
